I wanted to resurrect this issue for two reasons, namely:
1 .- Because actually I think that Opus Dei provides beneficial things to which they belong (or have belonged), another issue is whether compensated.
2 .- Because with relaxed mood (sometimes we get very serious) I would like to publicly thank the Opus Dei a personal happened that way to tell.
They ran the early 80s. I was added with 15 or 16. My parents spend the summer on the coast and, in spite of the directors, I had to go with them. Well, that summer (possibly 1981) it became fashionable (a boom) the song "The Hawks" Mary Jesus and his accordion. I imagine that at least for what you are from Spain and you have a certain age do not go unnoticed movements, gestures and accompanying crap so sad song by whoever dares to dance it. On the coast (can not imagine that inside) raged: fifties fat as tallow, rolls and ladies with flaps, brats with aspirations to be funny ... ALL danced in the multiple catastrophic Pajaritos orchestra who daily visited the crowded coastal area. As you know, an aggregate (like a cash) does not participate in public shows or dances. Well, although I had to be forced witnessed several of those feasts where the guests were struggling to see which of them was the scariest of the ridiculous, I, through my membership in Opus Dei, not even remotely fell in such a dance. That's right: watching that herd possessed with "The Hawks" I had to mentally perform many acts of reparation for the grave offense to the most elementary decency in which incurred. cazuelo I am very pleased that the birds do not dance, or not being Lagartera views. But this need not be of Opus Dei, the Moonies or the Federation of Friends of the nightjar. I think there are many normal people out there who danced and the birds, nor was the opus dei. But good if you feel so happy for not having danced the birds or Gallina Coco Wawa, because I'm happy for you. |

Although I think I've said elsewhere: Opus what I like are the prayers in Latin and participate in daily Mass, of course I know who does not know how to pray in Latin God hears it and loves it as much as others, also understand that I must be respectful, sympathetic to him who loves us hace.Dios not the same though in different languages you speak, what matters to him is the language of a heart full of love for Him and our fellow

| As you know me there are more things I like that I do not like, one thing I love is the care of the details of the Oratory. I know is different and is very nice, see how they are put flowers on the altar. And I feel like applauding at numerary assistants, as have all, like preparing every detail of the chapel. We know that the Lord is found everywhere but do not tell me what Oratorios of the Work Centers are somewhat expectacular, the love of God as love in the small things. |

GOOD THINGS OF OPUS:
1. Living in the beautiful and expensive houses they own.
2. The exquisite meals prepared (so the followers downloaded certain passions "instinctive" with jaw gymnastics where no other ...)
3. When being party should not use elements of medieval torture, the sackcloth and disciplines.
4. When you can get - every death of a bishop - to visit your parents.
5. When finally, you can run away and never return to that hell on earth.
I remember a numerary simpatica that dealt with things in the house, food, etc, one day disappeared from the center. The director told us at lunch that XX was gone to the fields (a property of 10 hectares is the opus in San Miguel) to teach at numerary assistants (wonderful woman, who lived for washing, cleaning and feed us, this is another very good thing for comfort, of course).

Strongly agree with Lucy. I would add that what is really valuable, as someone said before, it's us: those who share this experience and we are fortunate to share in an environment friendly now, yes, freedom. Details of external behavior, such as order, discipline, good manners, the cufflinks in his shirt, etc.. I think they are things that depnden taste of each and which do not require being in the Opus to appreciate and live them. I think it was a Spanish priest who once said that Opus has both good and original. The problem is that good are not original and the original are not good.

Well, the truth is that I am not nor have I been the Opus, but I know quite the Work for the circumstances that have touched my life and I miss the things I have read in this forum, which I took for curiosity.
But reading the proposed topic I could not resist the opportunity to say that in my case, the best of Opus is my best friend, incidentally, that if it belongs to Opus Dei and is the coolest person that I was able find, with a huge heart and no interest created (always respected that I do not share the same ideas and never tried to proselytize). Para mí es lo mejor del Opus, jejeje |
